About
What this is, and how we decide.
browsergames.top is an independent directory of persistent browser games: worlds that keep running between your visits. The genre's old lists rank by votes and rarely say when anyone last looked. Picking a game to spend years in should not take an afternoon of forum archaeology.
What counts as a persistent browser-based game
Three tests, all required:
- Browser. You play it in a normal web browser. No installer, no launcher, no plugin. Companion mobile apps are fine.
- Persistent. The world keeps existing and changing while you are logged out. Rounds and seasons count as long as the world runs for weeks between resets.
- Multiplayer. Other real people share the world, through a market, a map, a league, a forum or a fight.
That leaves out download clients, casual arcade portals, single-player idle games without a shared world, and gambling sites. We also do not list adult-only games, games built around crypto tokens, NFTs or other real-money trading, games that pay cash prizes, cheating tools, or any game with a credible safety complaint against its community.
How a listing is made
- Someone visits the game: the public pages, the help or wiki, the community spaces.
- They write the one-liner and the summary in our own words. No copied marketing copy.
- They fill the fact table from what they could see and record the sources internally.
- The listing gets a check date. That date is on every card and on the game page.
Facts we could not verify are marked unknown rather than guessed. Launch years come from the game's own site or long-standing community records.
Closed games
When a game's own site says it has shut down, we mark it closed, keep the entry for the record, and move it to the end of lists. Everything else is listed as is, with the date we last looked. Open the game to see for yourself; we don't rank by guesses about activity.
Sponsorship stays separate
Sponsored placements are labelled, use the same card as every other game, and never change a fact table, a status, or where unsponsored games appear. Editor's picks cannot be bought. The full policy is on the advertise page.
Use the data
The public fields of every listing are available at /api/games.jsonand new listings are announced in the RSS feed. You may reuse the data with a link back to browsergames.top. Screenshots and game artwork belong to their developers.
Corrections
Every game page has a report link. Developers and players can also write to[email protected]. Corrections are usually live within a few days, and the check date updates when they are.
