What it is
Phoenix: BSE is KJC Games' persistent space strategy game, the successor to Beyond the Stellar Empire, which started in 1992 and has been played continually since. You issue orders to ships, ground parties, starbases and politicians within one of the player affiliations contesting the Peripheries; the game's automation processes thousands of positions daily while human moderators run special actions and plotlines, and an in-game news service reports the resulting wars and elections. Ships and ground parties are free to run, but special actions, surface exploration and political positions make you a paying customer.
