What it is
Planet Epoch is a free browser 4X in which you colonise star systems, run refineries and shipyards, and build fleets across galaxies of up to 1,600 systems, with hyperspace trips taking real hours. Its distinguishing feature is live combat: battles play out in a 3D system view where you can position ships, set formations and take a command ship's helm yourself. Six races play very differently, from jump-gate Humans to cloaked Sharne, and galaxies run through a lifecycle that ends with a victor, so new servers open on a schedule.
